The Association for Electricity Supply Industry of Asia and Pacific (AESIEAP) is a regional non-governmental organization founded in 1975, whose main objectives include facilitating exchange of expertise between electric power companies of various countries and territories in the region; promoting co-operation among member organizations; and seeking and providing solutions to problems that the industry is facing in this area of the world. The AESIEAP members are organizations responsible for providing or administering public electricity supply in the Asia Pacific region and other organizations related to this industry. The Council is the AESIEAP executive body composed by representatives of all member countries and regions of the Association. The members of all countries and regions co-opt their representative to the Council for a period of two years. Thus, among its own members, the Council nominates the President, the Vice Presidents and the four members of the Executive Committee and appoints the Secretary General, the Honorary Treasurer and the Auditor. At present there are 17 member countries and regions, 62 full member companies and 18 associate members in AESIEAP. The 17 member countries and regions include: Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, French Polynesia, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea; Macao SAR, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore; Sri Lanka and Thailand. Since its inception AESIEAP has considerably grown to become a key player in communicating and coordinating the exchange of experiences, expertise and technology between member countries and power companies, both in the region and internationally.
