| AESIEAP is formed as a result of the first technical conference of representatives of the electricity supply industry in Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific in Hong Kong in 1975. AESIEAP is registered as a society in Hong Kong and operates under a formally adopted constitution.
Objective
AESIEAP (hereinafter called the “Association”) is a non-governmental organisation within the area of East Asia and the Western Pacific (hereinafter called the “Area”). The objectives of the Association are to:
- Bring together and foster cooperation and the exchange of expertise and technology between organisations which are responsible for any one or more of the functions of generation, transmission and distribution of electricity for public use (hereinafter called “electricity supply industry”) in the countries or, exceptionally, otherwise qualified geographical regions (as defined by the Council, and hereinafter called the “Regions”) within the Area;
- Study problems at regional level, the solutions of which are likely to contribute to the development of the electricity supply industry in the Area;
- Sponsor meetings, conferences, seminars and the like on matters of regional interest relevant to the electricity supply industry of the Area, and in particular to hold periodic regional conferences on such matters;
- Cooperate with international, regional, governmental and non-governmental organisations in matters which are likely to contribute to the development of the electricity supply industry in the Area; and
- Encourage, as may be desired from time to time, the participation in its activities of organisations and individuals whose activities are closely related to the electricity supply industry in the Area.
