| History:
Mr. Richard Pearce received Advanced Trade Certificate and Electrical Registration in 1991 and gained significant experience in the construction, commissioning and maintenance of industrial equipment including high voltage transformers and power electronics at the New Zealand Aluminium Smelter.
In 1998 he graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, specialising in power systems and electrical machines.
In 1999 he began his professional career with Beca Carter Hollings & Ferner Ltd as a Design Engineer in the power systems consulting group. He also started lecturing part time in power engineering and power electronics at the Auckland University of Technology.
Joining Genesis Energy in 2000, Mr. Pearce took the position as Electrical Engineer with primary accountabilities for generator plant and protection systems across Genesis Energy’s thermal and hydro power stations. In 2002 he moved to the Engineering Team Leader role within Genesis Energy.
In 2004 Mr. Pearce was appointed as Project Manager for Genesis Energy’s 385MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant project – e3p. The project was successfully commissioned in June 2007.
Mr. Pearce has continued to study throughout his career and in December 2005 graduated from the University of Otago with an Executive MBA.
In 2006 Mr. Pearce was appointed to General Manager Generation Development at Genesis Energy and is responsible for new thermal and renewable development projects from investigation through to commissioning and integration. The Generation Development business unit also maintains a focus on emerging generation technologies and research and development.

Mr Sim Kwong Mian, Managing Director, SP PowerGrid Ltd, has been with Singapore Power for 13 years. Prior to this, he was with the Public Utilities Board for 18 years. SP PowerGrid Ltd today manages the transmission and distribution of electricity and gas in Singapore.
Within the Singapore Power Group, Mr Sim serves as Director on the boards of SPI Management Services Pty Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Power located in Australia, SP Telecommunications Pte Ltd and SP Global Solutions Pte Ltd. He is also Chairman of Power Automation Pte Ltd, a joint venture company of Singapore Power and Siemens.
Mr Sim also represents Singapore in the Heads of ASEAN Power Utilities / Authorities (HAPUA), which is an organization tasked by the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) to lead in the power interconnection project to link the member nations’ electricity networks.
Mr Sim is a registered Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Board, Singapore, and a Senior Member of the Institution of Engineers, Singapore. Mrs. Badra Jayaweera, General Manager of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), holds a bachelor degree in Engineering (Honours) Electrical and Electronic from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She is also a Charted Engineer (C Eng), Sri Lanka, Fellow Institute of Engineering and Technology United Kingdom, Member Institute of Engineers (MIE), Sri Lanka and holds a postgraduate diploma in Industrial Engineering.
Mrs. Jayaweera joined CEB in June 1977 as an Electrical Engineer in the Construction Designs Branch. From October 1980 to June 1983 she worked as an Electrical Engineer in Colombo City Distribution Project. From June 1983 to June 1985, she worked as a Commercial Engineer, first in the Western Division and then from June 1985 to May 1989, in Contracts & Supplies. In May 1989 she was appointed Commercial Manager and stayed in this position until July 1991, when she became of Deputy General Manager (Procurement) until December 1993.
From January 1994 to May 1997 Mrs. Jayaweera was Deputy General Manager (Commercial and Customer Services) and from May 1997 to March 2004, Deputy General Manager (Distribution Planning).
Before taking her current position as General Manager of CEB, she was Additional General Manager (Region 1) from March 2004 to September 2008, in charge of planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the network, billing and revenue collection. |
