| Honorary President of International Commission On Large Dams; Earlier Vice President (Asian Region), ICOLD during 1991-94; Has been appointed by the Administrative Council of International Conference on Large High Voltage Electric System (CIGRE) as Honorary Member in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Association; In recognition of his contribution and support to science and technology, the New York Academy of Sciences has honoured Mr. Varma with enrolment as a member of the Academy. Vice President of AESIEAP (Nov. 2002 to Oct. 2004), President of AESIEAP (Oct. 2004 to Nov. 2006), Chairman of CEPSI 2006 and Immediate President of AESIEAP (Nov. 2007 to Oct. 2008). He is currently the President of Council of Power Utilities, an umbrella organization of all the organizations of the energy sector in India. |
