Tamco Switchgear (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro Limited is an established manufacturer of low and medium voltage switchgear, having been in business for over 40 years. Starting out as manufacturer of low voltage switchboards for the mining industries in 1960’s, the company then ventured into medium voltage switchgear production in the early 1970’s, and was the first company to do so in Malaysia. Now medium voltage equipment output represents over 90% of the company’s production.

Initially Tamco’s medium voltage switchgear was manufactured under license from Toshiba Corporation, Japan and Hawker Siddeley Switchgear Limited, UK.
